Job Title Genetic Technologist (band 5)   Location Kennedy-Galton Centre, Harrow, London   Closing Date for Applications 02/01/2008   Job Description and Person Specification This is an important post within the technical team in the department and the postholder will make a significant contribution to the genetic testing workload of the laboratory. The work will include sample reception and DNA extraction from patient blood samples and other tissue types using a variety of procedures. Samples are analysed using a range of molecular techniques including PCR-based assays and DNA sequencing following defined laboratory protocols. Both manual and robotic systems are in use. A high degree of accuracy is essential as well as the ability to team work as a team member. Applicants must be qualified to degree level in genetics or a related subject and ideally would have some experience in molecular genetics techniques or similar laboratory experience.
