Oxford Regional Genetics Laboratories Full Time Registered Clinical Scientist- Band 7 Salary: £29,789-£39,273 pa This post is supported by the National Institute of Health Research – flexibility and sustainability fund An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Clinical Scientist to support the translation and implementation of next generation sequencing technologies into clinical diagnostic practice. The work will build on translational research already conducted as part of the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) Genetics Theme and will involve development of the analytical and robotic workflows to adapt this technology for routine diagnostic use, to meet expected demand for the service in the NHS setting. The sudden cardiac death syndromes will be used as a paradigm in the first instance. In addition the post-holder will develop and write relevant standard operating procedures and validation reports required to ensure CPA compliance, assist in the preparation of gene dossiers for submission to UKGTN, undertake confirmatory sequencing and report patient results as necessary. The post-holder will work jointly with members of the BRC Genetics Theme, based at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, and the Oxford Regional Genetics Laboratories. Applications are invited from HPC Registered Clinical Scientists in Molecular Genetics or from trainee Clinical Scientists who will shortly be applying for registration. The post is available for 18 months in the first instance. Closing date for applications: February 14th 2010.
