Clinical Scientist in Molecular Genetics
Band 7
Salary £29,789 - £39,273
Plus high cost area supplement of 20% of the basic salary, subject to a minimum of £3,947 and a maximum payment of £6,080 per annum
Applications are invited from State Registered Clinical Scientists in Molecular Genetics. Scientists preparing for registration will also be considered and, if successful, recruited to band 6 (Salary £24,831 - £33,436) until registration is obtained.
We are also recruiting a band 5 technologist and these new permanent posts are funded by the National Commissioning Group (NCG) for Specialised Services to establish the first diagnostic molecular genetic service for Bardet-Biedl syndrome in conjunction with clinical and research expertise at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Institute of Child Health.
The successful applicants will have the technical expertise and background knowledge required for the development of BBS testing and to engage in the maintenance of our efficient and high quality molecular genetic diagnostic service.
Our CPA-accredited and UK genetic testing network laboratory provides a core clinical molecular genetics service for the South East of England Genetic Network, to patients attending Great Ormond Street for Children NHS Trust and an international service for metabolic, craniofacial, primary immune deficiency and deafness disorders. Close links are maintained with colleagues in the Pathology Department and with the UCL Institute of Child Health. The laboratory is located in Central London, within easy access of the West End and short walk from both Euston and Kings Cross stations.
